Design

When people look at the Yearbook they first see the cover. Opening it they see even more all the pages we have worked on throughout the year. There are a lot of rules to design that can make or break the pages of the book like font size, leading, and where the captions are placed. Here are a few design that I've done that made the book.

Yearbook Design 23-24

Powder Puff.jpg

My powderpuff spread was the first spread I had done for The Blaze yearbook. I did make mistakes along the way, like putting a boys dominate photo when this clearly for spreading breast cancer awareness. The spread in the end turned out good for it being my first. I incorporated out theme design with a secondary package.

The spread was the easiest one I designed. The Blaze was able to try out out new camera equipment and we continued spreads like this with winter and snacks. I do have to say it was a full team on this. I was barefoot, the copy editor did the whip cream, the design editor and I and the 24-25 associate editor went out and grabbed leaves during the fall.

Having to do two sports or even two teams on the one spread can be hard. The Cheer and Dance spread was a favorite of mine. We did a cutout of the dominate foot and a package deal on the left of the page. My secondary on the right just shows how the two teams work together to be able to have one person on both teams.

Four classes and one community, we all love to write and report. Covering something I am in I wanted recognize how much work we do and the effort we put into it. I recognized two students that were a the new podcasting class and were seniors, they meet incredible people and went out and beyond the classroom.

Your "Roman Empire," It was so current during that school year and people loved saying it and sharing what their own was. It started of as a TikTok trend and just continued into everyday conversation.

Yearbook Design 24-25

Doing the senior sunrise spread was like the start of my last high school year. We used the cutout like they were coming out of the the picture as a design element this year. I wanted to make a sentimental secondary that was relevant, I saw so many people with their digital cameras since they had become popular.

I decided on the final page on each grade level in the people section there should be extra information that people may not know about their class.

CHOIR.jpg

My freshman year I did choir but I had dropped it due to scheduling issues. To be able to do the spread brought me a little closer to choir. Especially reading the story made it all the better. I have missed it throughout the years.

We have incorporated so many things in our design elements this year and this page had almost all of them. I love to showcase students especially ones that no one really knows about.
